After creating a new operator group operators assigned to the new group receive a message 'access denied on main.ews' while logging on. What could the problem be?

Customers using Emerald version 4.5.11 for Linux may be experiencing a security problem causing Emerald to incorrectly deny access to non-admin operators.

If you have Emerald 4.5.11 for Linux (This exact version and platform is the only effected) You can download an update which replaces the file 'emerweb.so' in the /usr/local/emerald folder. This update is avaliable from our web site:

http://www.iea-software.com/ftp/emeraldv4/linux/emerweb.so

Before replacing the file be sure to first stop the emerald web server process (/usr/local/emerald/emerwebsrv).

Any security changes such as new operator group, updated permissions..etc require Emerald security database to be reloaded before they can take effect. If you've copied permissions from an existing operator group security database should be reloaded in order for security settings of the new group to be visible to Emerald.

To reload the security database:
From Emerald Admin click 'Apply'

Subsequent logons should succeed. If error still occurs make sure Operator group has at least 'Read' access to the 'Client' object group within operator access settings for your new Operator group and then reload the security database. More information on Operator security is avaliable from the 'Security / Operator Groups' topic of Emerald 6 Administrators guide.
